A connection hidden behind future equipment or placed far from the area it serves is less useful after move-in.

Keep these areas accessible and avoid creating conflicts with HVAC equipment, electrical service, walkways or future enclosures.

7. Include the pool, outdoor kitchen and lanai—even if they come later

A future pool, spa, outdoor shower, sink or outdoor kitchen can influence today's plumbing and site plan. Early planning may preserve practical routes or sleeves and help keep future work from crossing critical foundation, drainage or finished-landscape areas. It does not mean every future line should be installed without a defined design.

Mark the anticipated outdoor zones, equipment areas and connection points, then have the appropriate professionals determine what should be installed now. Pool, gas, plumbing and electrical scopes can involve different permits and licensed trades. A vague note that says 'future outdoor kitchen' is not a substitute for a coordinated scope.

8. Coordinate plumbing with structure, HVAC and electrical work

Plumbing cannot be planned in isolation. Pipe routes and sleeves must avoid structural conflicts, while walls need enough room for the intended fixtures and connections. Mechanical equipment, condensate management, electrical panels, appliances and cabinetry all compete for space in utility rooms and garages.

9. Treat field verification and inspection as hold points
